I stumbled upon Arnold Bennet’s excellent book, How to Live on Twenty-Four Hours a Day ( link ) during my high school years, and I keep returning to it a couple of times a year. His idea that “There is much pleasure to be derived from being a specialist.” has remained the guiding principle in my interests.
In this line of thinking, I tend to think of my interests in two ways - passions and pastimes.
In line with Mr. Bennet’s focus on specialization, I try to narrow my passions down to a select few areas.
